Cyclone Chorus
The 2011-2012 Cyclone Chorus has been rehearsing on Thursday afternoons from 2:40 P.M. until 3:45 P.M. The chorus is open to 4th and 5th grade students. Permission forms are available in the music room. Our first performance will be for our Veteran's Day Social on Friday, Nov.11 at 5 P.M. in the Sikes cafeteria. All chorus member need long black pants, a white long sleeved blouse/shirt, black shoes and dark socks. We would love to add a colorful cummerbund to "jazz" up our performance attire. If anyone would like to make a donation to purchase material or volunteer to sew for the chorus, please contact Mrs. Jones.
SINGING VOICE, SPEAKING VOICE
Our kindergarten students have been learning how to use many different kinds of voices in music class. We have experimented with "singing, speaking, whispering, and shouting" voices. We have also had lots of fun finding some "silly" voices. Hopefully, they used their singing voice and sang "Juba", "America, America", or, "I Wish I Was a Little Bird" for you.
Third Grade Students Begin to Play Recorders
Our third grade students are excited to begin playing recorders on Monday, November 14th.Initially we will focus on making a beautiful sound and reading songs from rhythm notation. At the beginning of the 4th semester, we will begin learning about melodic notation and reading our notes from the music staff.
